About
Pay.UK is the recognised operator and standards body for the UK's interbank payment systems, including the Faster Payment System, the Bacs Payment System and the Image Clearing System for cheques. It was established in September 2017 as the New Payment System Operator and rebranded as Pay.UK in October 2017, with Bacs and Faster Payments becoming its subsidiaries in May 2018. Its switching services include the Current Account Switch Service, the Payment Transfer Service and the Cash ISA Transfer Service, and its overlay services include Confirmation of Payee and Request to Pay. Its work also covers standards, including ISO 20022 and Issuer Identification Numbers, and its fraud work includes the Authorised Push Payment (APP) reimbursement policy and the Reimbursement Claims Management System.
