JCB is a Tokyo-headquartered international payment brand and card company, established in 1961. Working with financial partners, it offers credit, debit and prepaid cards accepted in more than 160 countries and territories, and it promotes its JCB Contactless service internationally alongside the QUICPay electronic money service in Japan. JCB has reciprocal acceptance arrangements with American Express in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, with Discover Network in the US, and with UnionPay at selected merchants in Japan and China. It works with banks and businesses on card issuing and merchant acquiring, and operates overseas affiliates across Asia, Oceania, Europe and the Middle East. Its major shareholders include MUFG Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Taiyo Life Insurance Company, Toyota Financial Services and ORIX.
