About
The National Bankers Association is a trade association representing minority depository institutions (MDIs), the mission-driven banks that serve underserved and low- to moderate-income communities. Founded in 1927, with Major Richard Robert Wright among its co-founders, it represents community banks across 43 states and territories. Its work for MDIs centres on capital, advocacy and modernisation, including policy advocacy, education and events, marketing opportunities for member banks, and programmes to aggregate capital. It also connects member banks with corporations, fintechs, nonprofits and policymakers, and non-member organisations can partner with it to host programmes, pilots and events.
