About
The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) is a U.S. Government agency that serves as the government's international investment arm, mobilising private capital for investments in emerging and strategic locations. It was established in 2019 and granted expanded authorities in 2025. It does not provide grant-based aid; its products include direct loans with tenors of up to 25 years, loan guarantees, insurance against risks such as currency inconvertibility and political violence, direct equity investments, debt and equity support for private equity funds, and project development support. Its board includes the U.S. secretaries of State, Treasury and Commerce alongside private-sector representatives, and it reports active investments in more than 100 countries. Examples on its site include a US$50 million direct equity investment in the pan-African digital infrastructure group Cassava Technologies, whose services include financial services.
