About
The Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) is the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Kuwait. Its origins date to the Kuwait Investment Board, set up in London in 1953, and KIA itself was established in 1982 as the parent organisation of the Kuwait Investment Office (KIO). It manages the State's General Reserve, the Future Generations Fund and any other funds entrusted to it by the Minister of Finance, with assets across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific and emerging markets. KIA invests mostly through external fund managers, while KIO in London can trade directly, and the authority also has a KIO presence in Shanghai. It is governed by a board of directors chaired by the State Minister for Economic Affairs and Investment.
