BDC Capital is the investment arm of the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC), providing venture capital, growth and transition capital, and growth equity to Canadian businesses. Its venture capital group runs a range of funds, including the Seed Venture Fund, Growth Venture Fund, Climate Tech Fund, Industrial Innovation Venture Fund, Life Sciences Venture Fund and Black Entrepreneurs Fund, as well as the Thrive Platform for Women. Growth Equity Partners makes minority equity investments in mid-market growth companies, while Growth & Transition Capital finances new projects and business transitions for established and high-growth firms. In September 2026 BDC announced a $1 billion allocation under its Defence Platform to strengthen Canada's defence investment ecosystem. It also publishes a report on Canada's venture capital landscape, most recently Canada's Venture Capital Landscape 2026.
