About
Norges Bank Investment Management (NBIM) manages the Government Pension Fund Global, which Norway uses for the long-term management of revenue from its oil and gas resources. The fund was created by legislation in 1990, received its first deposit in 1996 and invests only outside Norway. NBIM reports assets of more than 22,000 billion kroner, invested in international equities, fixed income, real estate and renewable energy infrastructure. Through its equity holdings the fund owns almost 1.5 percent of all shares in the world's listed companies. About 700 staff work from offices in Oslo, London, New York and Singapore, and the fund's overall strategy is set by a management mandate from Norway's Ministry of Finance.
