iDEAL is a Dutch online payment method that lets consumers pay directly through their own bank's internet or mobile banking. Launched in 2005, it is used for web shop purchases as well as energy bills, charity donations, municipal taxes and traffic fines, and its website is managed by Currence iDEAL B.V. Products listed on the site include iDEAL Checkout, iDEAL QR, iDEAL Payment Link and iDEAL Scheduling, along with a personal iDEAL profile that stores a user's preferred account and delivery details. iDEAL is moving to Wero, a European payment system built on the foundation of iDEAL and backed by 16 European banks, starting with a first phase under the co-brand iDEAL | Wero from the first quarter of 2026. The site states that all iDEAL merchants will have moved to Wero by the end of 2027 at the latest, after which the iDEAL brand will be phased out gradually.
