Genesis

About

Genesis is a startup hub in Newfoundland and Labrador that supports early-stage technology founders and is affiliated with Memorial University. Founded in 1997, it runs Startups 101, a hands-on workshop for founders who are just getting started; Evolve, a seven-week sprint; and Membership, which includes Residency, an invitation-only one-year track for venture-scale founders whose admissions are decided by a Founders' Council. It also runs an AI Garage that gives startups access to applied AI expertise, and it connects founders to non-dilutive funding, expert advisers and workshops. Genesis is headquartered at the Emera Innovation Exchange on Memorial University's Signal Hill Campus in St. John's and is led by President and CEO Ed Martin. Companies it names as having come out of its programmes include Verafin, Mysa, HeyOrca and Spellbook.
