About
BLIK is a Polish mobile payment system owned by Polski Standard Płatności (Polish Payment Standard, PPS). It launched on 9 February 2015 after PPS received consent from the National Bank of Poland to operate it, and was built by six cooperating banks: Alior Bank, Bank Millennium, Bank Zachodni WBK, ING Bank Śląski, mBank and PKO Bank Polski. Users pay with a one-off six-digit code from their banking app, and BLIK works online, in shops, at ATMs and cash deposit machines, and for transfers to a phone number, alongside a BLIK Pay Later deferred payment service. Mastercard became a shareholder of PPS in 2020, and BLIK has expanded into Slovakia through the acquisition of VIAMO, now BLIK SK a.s., and into Romania, where BLIK Romania S.A. was authorised by the National Bank of Romania in 2024. In 2025 it joined the EuroPA initiative and completed a pilot mobile transfer with Portugal's MB WAY.
