Australian Payments Network (AusPayNet) is the industry body for Australia's payments system, working to enable competition and innovation, promote efficiency and manage risk for all users of the system. Its network includes more than 150 members and participants across four categories: participant, operator, affiliate and payment service provider members. AusPayNet maintains the rules, regulations and guidelines for the industry's core payment systems and frameworks, covering areas such as cards, cash, cheques, direct entry and high-value payments, and publishes a list of approved ATM and point-of-sale devices. It collects fraud statistics from financial institutions and card schemes twice a year and publishes an annual Australian Payments Fraud report. The organisation also represents the industry on national and international standards committees and makes submissions on policy reviews, including those of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
