About

The Australian Finance Industry Association (AFIA) is the peak industry body for the finance industry in Australia. Its members include bank and non-bank lenders, finance companies, fintechs, vehicle and equipment finance providers, car rental and fleet providers, and service providers to the industry. AFIA works with members to develop codes of practice, including the AFIA Finance Industry Code of Practice, which sets standards on communication, fair treatment, support for customers experiencing vulnerability or financial difficulty, and dispute resolution, as well as a separate car rental code. It engages with government and regulators on policy, and its advocacy priorities include a balanced regulatory framework, safe digital finance and access to affordable and sustainable finance. AFIA also publishes research such as the AFIA Residential Mortgage Non-bank Lenders Report and runs events for members and finance professionals.
