About
Genesis Alternative Ventures is a Singapore-based venture debt provider to venture and growth-stage companies in Southeast Asia that are backed by venture capital investors. It describes venture debt as suited to high-growth startups, typically at Series B or C, that lack the collateral traditional banks require, and as a way to extend cash runway while minimising founders' equity dilution. In September 2024 it announced US$125 million in total commitments for its second Southeast Asia-focused venture debt fund, with investors including Mizuho Bank, Aozora Bank, Korea Development Bank and OurCrowd. In August 2023 it announced a collaboration with Indonesia's Superbank to provide up to US$40 million of venture debt to technology startups in Indonesia. The firm was founded in 2019 by Dr Jeremy Loh, its Co-Founder and Managing Partner, with Ben J Benjamin and Martin Tang, and companies highlighted on its site include Akulaku, Trusting Social and HappyFresh.
