About
CPP Investments manages the investments of the Canada Pension Plan on behalf of more than 22 million contributors and beneficiaries. The CPP Investment Board was established in 1997 by an Act of Parliament and operates independently under its own board, with a legislated mandate to maximise long-term returns without undue risk of loss. It began investing in public equities in 1999 and has since expanded into private equity, infrastructure and real estate. Its private equity programme invests through external funds, secondaries and direct investments, with relationships with more than 160 fund managers and partners. Its global headquarters is in Toronto, and it opened offices in London and Hong Kong in 2008.
