About

The California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) is a public pension fund that provides retirement and health benefits to its members and retirees. Its Investment Office in Sacramento manages more than $600 billion in assets on behalf of over 2 million members, across global public equity, global fixed income, private equity, private debt and real assets. The Private Equity Program invests through limited partnerships, direct and co-investments alongside existing CalPERS general partners, direct secondaries and, for specific mandates, fund of funds, covering buyout, credit-related, venture capital, growth and opportunistic strategies. CalPERS also runs an Emerging Manager Program in private equity, with advisers selected by staff to source emerging manager opportunities. The fund is overseen by a 13-member Board of Administration, which holds investment authority and sole fiduciary responsibility for its assets.
