About
Export Development Canada (EDC) is Canada's export credit agency and a Crown corporation, and through EDC Investments it provides equity capital to Canadian exporters. EDC Investments is a long-term programme with more than $4 billion in capital, making direct equity investments of $5 million to $25 million or more and taking minority stakes of up to 25%, either as lead investor or as a co-investor. It typically backs companies with annual revenue between $10 million and $1 billion and a clear plan for international growth, and it does not invest at seed stage or in publicly traded companies. It also invests in Canadian venture capital and private equity funds, and reports investments in more than 200 Canadian companies and support for more than 100 funds. Its sectors include digital industries, advanced manufacturing, agri-food, energy and energy transition, critical minerals and cleantech.
