Brightspark Ventures is a Canadian venture capital firm that backs early-stage technology companies through both venture funds and deal-by-deal special purpose vehicles (SPVs). Its first VC fund and incubator, Brightspark Labs, launched in 1999, and since 2012 it has made its investments available to accredited investors through SPVs, alongside a secondaries transaction programme. In 2020 it launched Brightspark Canadian Opportunities Fund I, a $67.5M fund focused on pre-Series A to Series A companies. Brightspark Financial, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Brightspark Capital Inc., is registered as an Exempt Market Dealer in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario. Portfolio companies highlighted on its site include Hopper, backed at pre-Seed in 2007, Deep Sky, backed at pre-Seed in 2022, and Radian6, acquired by Salesforce in 2011.
