100X.VC is an early-stage venture fund that invests in Indian startups using India SAFE (iSAFE) notes, a founder-friendly convertible instrument. The firm launched its iSAFE note for India in July 2019 and publishes template documents for versions with a valuation cap, a discount, both, or a most-favoured-nation clause. Under Indian law, an iSAFE note takes the legal form of compulsorily convertible preference shares, which convert into equity at the next priced round or another specified event, or after three years. After the first cheque, founders work with operators, investors and specialists from the 100X network as they prepare for their next institutional round. The firm reports backing more than 400 founders and 180 companies.
