Velocity

Velocity is the University of Waterloo's entrepreneurship centre and startup incubator, supporting founders through coaching, programming and a professional network. It does not take equity in the startups it supports and does not charge founders for its services, space or community. Founders can use 45,000 square feet of office space, a hardware workshop with equipment such as laser cutters and 3D printers, and a lab with analytical and testing equipment. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and new founders are onboarded every two months, with the centre led by Managing Director John Dick. Companies listed on its site include ApplyBoard, Avidbots, Faire, Bridgit and Float.
