About
The Innovative Payments Association (IPA) is a trade organisation for the electronic payments sector, including prepaid products, mobile wallets and peer-to-peer payment technology. It was founded in 2005 as the Network Branded Prepaid Card Association (NBPCA) and rebranded in 2019 to reflect how its members and the market had changed. The association represents the industry before legislators and regulators, and its site cites its work with the CFPB on the Prepaid Accounts Rule and with the FDIC on brokered deposits regulations. It runs the Innovative Payments Conference (IPC), whose 2027 edition takes place in Washington, DC, alongside working groups, policy briefings, podcasts and member events.
