Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) is a private, family-run security technology group headquartered in Munich, organised into three segments: Digital Security, Financial Platforms and Currency Technology. Its Financial Platforms segment covers payment cards and card issuance services, authentication, and digital payments and wallets, and the group includes the company G+D Netcetera. G+D was founded in Leipzig in 1852 as a printing house for banknotes and securities and has been based in Munich since 1948. It has subsidiaries in 40 countries, and in 2025 the European Central Bank concluded a framework agreement with G+D and its partners Nexi and Capgemini for the offline function of the digital euro.
