Dankort

Dankort is Denmark's national debit card, launched in 1983. Contactless Dankort payments were introduced in 2015, and since 2022 cardholders have been able to add Dankort to Apple Pay, an option now available to customers of more than 40 banks. The Dankort scheme is owned by Nexi and sets the rules for its licensees, the card issuers and acquirers, with the public parts of the scheme rules published on its website. Merchants can apply for a Dankort acceptance agreement directly, and online payments are secured through Dankort Secured by Nets. The scheme donates 1 øre to the Danish Nature Fund (Den Danske Naturfond) each time a payment is made with Dankort.
