Teralys Capital is a Montreal-based private fund manager that invests in venture capital funds focused on innovation. It has been operating since 2009 and reports $2B in assets under management across five specialised venture capital fund-of-funds and two legacy portfolios of funds. Its partner funds invest in information technologies, life sciences, and clean or industrial innovation, from early-stage start-ups through expansion, growth and technology buy-outs. Teralys invests primarily in Canadian venture capital and growth-oriented funds, also invests internationally, and complements its fund investments with co-investments in Canadian companies alongside fund partners. Each fund it selects must follow seven investment pillars, including a fund size suited to its strategy, managers with operational and entrepreneurial expertise, and alignment of interests between investors and managers.
