SBI Investment is the venture capital arm of Japan's SBI Group, operating and managing venture capital funds from its base in Roppongi, Tokyo. Established in June 1996 and wholly owned by SBI Group, it is registered with the Kanto Local Finance Bureau as a Type II Financial Instruments Business and Investment Management Business operator (No. 3397). It invests in unlisted companies in fields including AI, blockchain, fintech, IT, biotech, life sciences, healthcare and environmental energy, and launched a JPY 30 billion fintech-focused fund in December 2015. Portfolio companies featured on its site include freee, BASE, AI inside and Global Mobility Service, and the firm reports 1,314 cumulative portfolio companies as of 31 March 2025.
