Sawari Ventures is a Cairo-based venture capital firm investing in technology companies across North Africa. Founded in 2010, it has about $70 million in assets under management and has invested in 19 companies in Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco, plus two seed-stage vehicles. It uses two funds: North Africa Fund I, incorporated in the Netherlands, which brings in capital from development finance institutions, and Egypt Fund I, incorporated in Egypt, for local investors. It invests mainly in early and growth-stage startups in sectors including fintech, edtech, healthtech, deeptech and e-commerce. Through investments in the Flat6Labs Cairo and Tunis seed vehicles, it also supports seed-stage founders, and it applies an ESG framework to its investment decisions.
