Mastercard is a global payments company that connects individuals and organisations in more than 210 countries and territories. Alongside its core payments business, it provides value-added services covering fraud and risk management, cybersecurity and the digital payments experience. It works with fintechs through Start Path, a startup engagement programme that has run since 2014 and has worked with more than 500 startups in over 60 countries. Start Path looks for companies that have raised seed, Series A or later funding and have a live, revenue-generating product, and runs tracks including agentic commerce, open finance, blockchain and digital assets, security and small business. Mastercard also has a dedicated fund for investing in startups where it identifies a strategic fit.
