Knife Capital is a venture capital investment manager that backs African innovation-driven businesses and supports their international expansion through what it calls Knowledge, Networks and Funding. It was established in 2010 out of the South African venture capital division of Here Be Dragons, the investment group founded by Mark Shuttleworth. Its vehicles have included the Section 12J funds KNF Ventures and KNF Ventures II, Knife Fund III, launched in 2021 as a $50 million follow-on fund, and the Grindstone Accelerator programme launched in 2013. Portfolio companies named on its site include Sticitt, Kasha, Simera Sense, Outsized, DataProphet and Snapplify. The firm has offices in Cape Town, London and Jersey.
