Catalyst Fund is a pre-seed venture capital fund and venture builder that began in 2015 as a global inclusive-fintech accelerator managed by BFA Global, which is now its general partner. Between 2015 and 2022 it supported 61 companies across 15 emerging markets in Africa, Asia and Latin America, with backers including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co., the UK FCDO, PayPal and the Mastercard Foundation. In 2022 it launched its first equity fund, which backs founders building climate adaptation and resilience solutions in Africa. The fund invests $200K in pre-seed startups and follows on at Seed and Series A, across sectors such as climate insurance, carbon finance, agriculture, water management and clean energy. Alongside capital, its team provides hands-on support in areas including product, data, sales and fundraising, and connects founders to a network of more than 250 investors and ecosystem partners.
