The Basics
North America's pay by bank network for smart, successful payments.
Aeropay was built for the payment problems nobody else wanted to solve.
Going Deeper
Who are you building your product/service for, and what painful problem are you taking away from their day?
We build for businesses in gaming, specialized retail, e-commerce, marketplaces, subscription services, and financial services, especially those in complex or highly regulated industries. They need a better way to connect customers to their financial accounts, verify identity, and move money securely. Aeropay’s Aerosync connects customers directly to 12,000+ banks and financial institutions, enabling fast, secure account linking and access to real-time financial data. From there, Aeropay enables businesses to move money directly through bank payments and manage risk intelligently, helping reduce costs, fraud, and operational complexity while creating a seamless customer experience.
If a top-tier VC is reading this, what would you want them to understand about your company in 30 seconds?
Aeropay was built for the payment problems nobody else wanted to solve. We started in cannabis and sports gaming, where risk, compliance, and reliability are non-negotiable, and that foundation now serves enterprise clients across gaming, retail, e-commerce, and digital assets. Our platform unites intelligent multi-rail routing, proprietary connectivity to 12,000+ banks, AI-powered fraud prevention, and guaranteed settlement. Real-time payments are going mainstream, and a generation of consumers is walking away from credit. Bank payments are poised to challenge cards, and Aeropay is building the network that makes it happen.
What are you doing differently from your competitors?
Most payment companies start with low-risk merchants and work outward. We did the opposite. We built our technology for some of the hardest industries in the economy, including cannabis and sports gaming, where traditional providers often couldn't operate. Those markets demanded sophisticated risk management, regulatory compliance, resilient bank connectivity, and exceptional reliability. Solving the hardest problems first gave us infrastructure that works almost anywhere. We also combine intelligent routing across multiple rails, proprietary bank connectivity, AI-powered fraud prevention, and guaranteed settlement in a single platform, rather than offering one rail and hoping it works.
What was the “this has to exist” moment that made you start the company?
We saw legitimate, regulated businesses being turned away by traditional payment providers and forced into cash-heavy, high-risk operations. At the same time, consumers were being pushed toward cards even when they wanted to pay directly from their bank accounts. Bank payments were the obvious answer: lower cost, more secure, no debt. But the technology to make them instant, reliable, and scalable didn't exist. We realized that if bank payments could work for the most demanding industries, they could work for everyone.
How do you make money? Which part of your business model are you most excited about scaling?
We earn transaction-based fees when businesses accept and move money through the Aeropay network, alongside our broader platform services. We're most excited about scaling our payment orchestration capabilities. Intelligent routing across multiple rails, combined with real-time payments, Request for Payment, and guaranteed settlement, lets us optimize every transaction for success, speed, and cost. Through our B2B partnerships, we bring those capabilities to entire ecosystems of merchants and users at once.
Which proof points matter most right now?
Partnerships and industry recognition. Our integrations with established banking technology providers and digital-asset platforms trust our infrastructure, and our network connects to more than 12,000 banks. In 2026 we made the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing private companies, won the FinTech Breakthrough Award for Open Banking Platform of the Year, and were named one of Built In's Best Startups to Work For in Chicago. Our CEO, Dan Muller, also received Nacha's 2025 15 Under 40 Award.
How does your product/service make the world a better place?
Aeropay is helping modernize how money moves in North America by bringing bank-based payments closer to the experience people have come to expect from modern financial infrastructure around the world. Instead of relying primarily on cards, businesses can connect customers directly to their bank accounts and move money securely through account-to-account payments. This can reduce reliance on costly card infrastructure, limit exposure to sensitive card credentials, and give businesses more accessible payment options. By making bank payments faster, more secure, and easier to use, Aeropay is helping build a more connected and efficient financial ecosystem.

What’s been your biggest unexpected challenge so far, and what did it force you to learn quickly?
Building first for highly regulated industries meant we couldn't learn slowly. Every gap in risk management, compliance, or bank connectivity showed up immediately and at scale. It forced us to build rigorous fraud prevention, resilient infrastructure, and a compliance-first culture much earlier than most startups do. That pressure was hard at the time, but it became our biggest advantage: the discipline we developed for the toughest markets is exactly what enterprise customers and banking partners now look for.
What does success look like in 12 months? What about in 5 years?
In 12 months: pay by bank becomes a primary payment option for our merchants, not an alternative. We’ll expand into new verticals, deepen our banking and fintech partnerships, and drive adoption of real-time payments and Request for Payment.
In five years: Aeropay is the preferred pay-by-bank network in North America, with Aeropay and pay by bank becoming synonymous with a seamless, secure way to move money directly from a bank account. Our goal is to make bank payments as familiar and widely accepted as card payments, while delivering greater efficiency and lower costs.
What type of partner or collaborator would most accelerate your journey right now?
We're looking for businesses that move high volumes of money and need payments that won't let them down. We already power payments for Caesars, Worldpay, Topstep, Bally's, Transak, and more, across sports gaming, specialized retail, e-commerce, marketplaces, and subscription services. Our clients see lower costs, faster access to funds, and higher payment success than cards or traditional ACH can deliver. We'd love to hear from operators in these spaces who are tired of high processing fees and chargebacks, or providers that don't understand their industry.
Finish this sentence: “We’ll know we’ve really made it when…”
…someone checks out, pays straight from their bank account, and never gives it a second thought. When pay by bank stops being "the alternative" and simply becomes how money moves, at every checkout, in every industry, we'll know Aeropay has done its job.
