About
Masterworks lets people invest in shares of individual blue-chip artworks. It buys a painting, places it in a company, and registers shares in that entity with the SEC under Regulation A before selling them to investors. When a work is later sold, proceeds are shared among investors, and Masterworks charges fees including a share of any profit.
